Draft Grade — Bears
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureA+
The phones sank the Bears this weekend: C+.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bears did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. The final tally is a middling C+.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Milum proves the room right and everyone else wrong. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton at the 33rd pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jayden Higgins
They jumped the gun on Jayden Higgins, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick41 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Wyatt Milum well ahead of where he belonged. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick72 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
A conviction pick on Shemar Turner at pick 72 that the board grades a round light. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
A reasonable price with a little left over, Malachi Moore in slot 148. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick200 Rnd6 Tyler Cooper
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Cooper at the Round 6 slot squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They talked themselves into Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick No. 233, and the board did not agree. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in No. 240 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
