The Patriots let Taaffe fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Patriots watched Michael Taaffe slide 24 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If Dennis-Sutton pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
