Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The 49ers lost the trade table, and the D tells the story.

The 49ers did not so much draft Jack Kiser as overpay for him, 37 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

The Nolen pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In the 27th pick they get a disruptor off the edge at fair value.
Pick43 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
A interior defensive lineman of that caliber at Round 2, Pick 11 is the definition of value, full stop. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick50 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick52 Rnd2 Marcus Mbow
Good price on Marcus Mbow in pick 52, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
They robbed the room for Tyleik Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick62 Rnd2 TreVeyon Henderson
They let TreVeyon Henderson come to them and pounced at No. 62. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Wyatt Milum
The board had Wyatt Milum higher than No. 75, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick100 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 100 squarely in line with his ranking. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick113 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
A reasonable price with a little left over, Zy Alexander in the 113th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kyle Williams
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Kyle Williams at pick 138 is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick147 Rnd5 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser in slot 147 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick160 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
They did well to land Pat Bryant in the 160th pick, just ahead of his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227 Rnd7 Donovan Edwards
They barely believed it either: Donovan Edwards still on the board at the Round 7 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick239 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
This one needs a full-page explanation: Teddye Buchanan in Round 7, Pick 23, miles early. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at the 249th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick252 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
