Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Jalen Thompson at the 204th overall pick is 61 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Reese.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
