Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Bears: B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bears would have aced it. PJ Williams at the 244th overall pick is 36 spots clear of where he belonged. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

However the rest shakes out, Haulcy at that price is a win they earned. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Caleb Banks
In the Round 1 slot they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick60 Rnd2 A'Mauri Washington
A reach on A'Mauri Washington in No. 60; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick91 Rnd3 A.J. Haulcy
A.J. Haulcy at pick No. 91 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick131 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in pick 131 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick168 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
They took Aaron Anderson at par in the 168th overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick241 Rnd7 Barion Brown
Barion Brown in Round 7, Pick 26 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick244 Rnd7 PJ Williams
Value said wait; PJ Williams in the 244th pick says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick257 Rnd7 Jack Velling
They reached into another round for Jack Velling, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
