Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Larceny in the Round 6 slot lands the Browns a B, Reed and all.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jaylen Reed had no business being available in pick 216, and the Browns did the only sane thing and turned in the card. The bottom line is a respectable B.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Conner has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
In pick 2 they get an island corner at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
A clean, defensible pick in the 33rd overall pick with a little surplus value in Emeka Egbuka. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at No. 67 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick94 Rnd3 Charles Grant
Nothing to complain about; Charles Grant went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick104 Rnd4 Will Howard
Will Howard in Round 4, Pick 2 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick179 Rnd6 Upton Stout
They liked Upton Stout enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 179. It fills a real need, too.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jay Higgins
They jumped the gun on Jay Higgins, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick200 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at the 200th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jaylen Reed
Jaylen Reed in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick255 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
A conviction pick on Hayden Conner at pick 255 that the board grades a round light. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
