49ers4eva DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

Draft Grade — 49ers

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the 49ers. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The 49ers did exactly that with Logan Brown in the Round 3 slot.
The Bassa steal is the beam this whole class leans on. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In slot 11 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
They went early on Donovan Ezeiruaku in pick No. 43, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick75
Rnd3
Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott in pick 75 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick100
Rnd3
Logan Brown
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Brown in the 100th pick, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick113
Rnd4
Savion Williams
Savion Williams at No. 113 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick138
Rnd4
Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams in Round 4, Pick 36 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick147
Rnd5
Jeffrey Bassa
Circle this one: Jeffrey Bassa at slot 147 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick160
Rnd5
Jackson Slater
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jackson Slater in the 160th overall pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227
Rnd7
Teddye Buchanan
They reached into another round for Teddye Buchanan, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick249
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 33, with Isaac TeSlaa worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick252
Rnd7
Phil Mafah
They will replay Phil Mafah at No. 252 for years; that is how good the value is. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
