Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Chargers.

The Mycah Pittman selection is the head-turner. The Chargers reached 127 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The Irving pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In slot 5 they get a blindside protector at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at the 37th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick69 Rnd3 Kamari Lassiter
Steal is underselling it; Kamari Lassiter at the 69th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick74 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
Nice patience on Jeremiah Trotter Jr., who had no business lasting to pick 74. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick96 Rnd3 Javon Bullard
Javon Bullard in pick No. 96 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick105 Rnd4 Roman Wilson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Roman Wilson in Round 4, Pick 5, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick142 Rnd5 Bucky Irving
You do not let a running back like Bucky Irving reach slot 142 and blink. They did not. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick145 Rnd5 Jared Wiley
Jared Wiley in pick No. 145 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick155 Rnd5 Curtis Jacobs
They reached into another round for Curtis Jacobs, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick183 Rnd6 Jase McClellan
They reached a country mile for Jase McClellan at pick 183, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick226 Rnd7 Mycah Pittman
A real head-scratcher, Mycah Pittman in No. 226 is miles ahead of his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
