Draft Grade — Chiefs

The Chiefs cashed the board's mistake on Jones Jr.: B.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Emery Jones Jr. tumbling to the Chiefs in the Round 5 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.

They will need Barham to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up.

Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 31 they get a wrecking ball inside, and a steal at that.
Pick63 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery slid further than he should have, and pick No. 63 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
Nice patience on TreVeyon Henderson, who had no business lasting to the Round 3 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick95 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke at the 95th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick137 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander in pick 137 lands just on the right side of the ledger. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick165 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Emery Jones Jr. in No. 165, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham in the 212th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick217 Rnd6 Kyle Williams
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kyle Williams at slot 217. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
Somehow Carson Vinson was still sitting there in slot 256, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
