The Chiefs did not so much draft Dont'e Thornton Jr. as overpay for him, 42 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

However the rest shakes out, Giddens at that price is a win they earned. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
