Jaydin DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
C+
ValueC-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A mixed bag for the Bills, and a C+ to match. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bills shredded theirs for Savion Williams. He came off 30 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Tuten where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
Hit on Azareye'h Thomas and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Azareye'h Thomas
In No. 30 they get a lockdown presence outside, though the board says they badly overpaid. Need was not the driver here.
Pick56
Rnd2
Shemar Turner
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Shemar Turner well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62
Rnd2
Savion Williams
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Savion Williams. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick109
Rnd4
Lathan Ransom
Nothing to complain about; Lathan Ransom went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jonas Sanker
They took Jonas Sanker at par in slot 132, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Bhayshul Tuten
The board had Bhayshul Tuten higher than the 169th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick170
Rnd5
Ajani Cornelius
Ajani Cornelius in pick 170 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick173
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
Jah Joyner is a better player than slot 173 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick177
Rnd6
James Burnip
James Burnip at the 177th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jay Higgins
Good price on Jay Higgins in No. 206, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
