Draft Grade — Dolphins

The Dolphins drew a line under the quarterback search with Dart: B-.

The search is over. The Dolphins handed the keys to Jaxson Dart, and the whole operation now runs on his development. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The Nelson pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The cost of the Dart reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Jaxson Dart
In slot 13 they get their quarterback of the future, a steep price for the projection. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery at Round 2, Pick 16 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick98 Rnd3 Jordan Phillips
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Phillips a notch or two before his time. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick116 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at pick No. 116 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick135 Rnd4 LeQuint Allen
By-the-book stuff, LeQuint Allen at No. 135 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick150 Rnd5 Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales in the 150th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick155 Rnd5 Aeneas Peebles
A quiet steal in the Round 5 slot: Aeneas Peebles for less than the market said. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jack Nelson
They will replay Jack Nelson at pick 224 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick231 Rnd7 Ricky White III
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ricky White III at Round 7, Pick 15 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick253 Rnd7 Maxen Hook
Maxen Hook at the 253rd overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
