Draft Grade — Chargers

The Chargers did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Chargers took RJ Harvey a full 44 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Tuimoloau. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 3 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Colston Loveland
In pick No. 22 they get a mismatch in the passing game at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55
Rnd2
JT Tuimoloau
Quietly one of the better values of the day, JT Tuimoloau at the 55th pick. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
RJ Harvey
RJ Harvey in pick 86 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
