Draft Grade — Colts

Best value of the weekend goes to the Colts for Sanders: C+. Somebody in pick 80 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Colts sat still while T.J. Sanders, the No. 41 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
If Savaiinaea pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Jonah Savaiinaea
In slot 14 they get protection for the quarterback, a steep price for the projection. A real need, handled.
Pick45
Rnd2
Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. in the 45th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick80
Rnd3
T.J. Sanders
T.J. Sanders at Round 3, Pick 16 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick117
Rnd4
Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke in pick No. 117 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick151
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malachi Moore at the 151st overall pick. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick189
Rnd6
Chase Lundt
Chase Lundt in pick 189 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It fills a real need, too.
Pick232
Rnd7
Isaac TeSlaa
No edge and no loss on Isaac TeSlaa in the Round 7 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
