Theroachman DRAFTING FOR THECowboys
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall

FutureB-
Grant should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Kenneth Grant, the No. 22 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 44.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Skattebo proves the room right and everyone else wrong. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick12
Rnd1
Matthew Golden
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick44
Rnd2
Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant at pick No. 44 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76
Rnd3
Cam Skattebo
A premium they did not need to pay, Cam Skattebo a notch or two before his time. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149
Rnd5
Cody Simon
Cody Simon slid further than he should have, and Round 5, Pick 11 is lovely value for the linebacker. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174
Rnd5
O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at the 174th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick204
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at the 204th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211
Rnd6
Joshua Gray
Joshua Gray at No. 211 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick217
Rnd7
Oronde Gadsden II
Taking Oronde Gadsden II in pick 217 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie at No. 239 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris is a better player than slot 247 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
