Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
A passer of the future in Daniels, and a D+, for the Commanders.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Commanders shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill.

They have staked the next five years on Jayden Daniels, which is the only story that really matters here. The cost of the Sinnott reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They banked enough surplus on Still to cover a lot of smaller sins.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
A straight-up fair deal on Chop Robinson at the 36th pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick40 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
A slide stopped in the 40th overall pick, with Keon Coleman worth more than the price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Zach Frazier
Zach Frazier in slot 67 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick94 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson in pick 94 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick101 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
They did well to land Zak Zinter in pick No. 101, just ahead of his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick103 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Matt Goncalves. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick106 Rnd4 Tommy Eichenberg
A real head-scratcher, Tommy Eichenberg in No. 106 is miles ahead of his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick122 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott in Round 4, Pick 22 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick138 Rnd5 Daijun Edwards
Nothing to complain about; Daijun Edwards went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick201 Rnd6 Jaylen Harrell
They went early on Jaylen Harrell in the 201st overall pick, and the value did not follow. The roster fit checks out.
Pick220 Rnd6 Tarheeb Still
They robbed the room for Tarheeb Still here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick241 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at slot 241 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
