FutureB+
Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B+. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cowboys reached some 46 spots for Antwaun Powell-Ryland, and value like that does not grow back.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Getting Walker where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Walter Nolen in pick No. 30. The roster fit checks out.
Pick55
Rnd2
Jalon Walker
They robbed the room for Jalon Walker here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the 56th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick62
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Jayden Higgins in the 62nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick76
Rnd3
Wyatt Milum
They let Wyatt Milum come to them and pounced at the Round 3 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99
Rnd3
Chris Paul Jr.
Somehow Chris Paul Jr. was still sitting there in slot 99, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick105
Rnd4
Xavier Restrepo
No edge and no loss on Xavier Restrepo in No. 105; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Kyle McCord
A conviction pick on Kyle McCord at pick No. 109 that the board grades a round light. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick117
Rnd4
Antwaun Powell-Ryland
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Antwaun Powell-Ryland. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick174
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 174th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick204
Rnd6
Oronde Gadsden II
A clean, defensible pick in pick 204 with a little surplus value in Oronde Gadsden II. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick211
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson at slot 211 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick217
Rnd7
Desmond Watson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Desmond Watson well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick239
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
Zeek Biggers at Round 7, Pick 23 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick246
Rnd7
Jermari Harris
Jermari Harris slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 30 is lovely value for the cornerback. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick247
Rnd7
Hayden Conner
They reached a country mile for Hayden Conner at slot 247, and the board is aghast. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
