Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The 49ers let Ransom fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Lathan Ransom at the Round 4 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They are betting Mondon Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. On the needs board they went 7 of 8, with offensive lineman the one that mattered most.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Jack Sawyer
In pick 30 they get a problem off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
They did well to land Tyleik Williams in the Round 2 slot, just ahead of his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick56 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea at pick No. 56 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick62 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 62nd pick is fair value, right on his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick75 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
Omarr Norman-Lott at the 75th overall pick is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick90 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins at No. 90 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick100 Rnd3 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. at Round 3, Pick 36 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick113 Rnd4 Dorian Strong
A premium they did not need to pay, Dorian Strong a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick138 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Lathan Ransom in the Round 4 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick147 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
A market-rate wide receiver, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Pat Bryant. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick149 Rnd5 Trevor Etienne
A tidy little value on Trevor Etienne in the 149th overall pick, a step better than break-even. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick160 Rnd5 Seth McLaughlin
They jumped the gun on Seth McLaughlin, taking him earlier than his grade liked. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204 Rnd6 Joshua Gray
No edge and no loss on Joshua Gray in slot 204; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick227 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
A straight-up fair deal on Isaac TeSlaa at the 227th pick, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick249 Rnd7 CJ Dippre
Nothing to complain about; CJ Dippre went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick252 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
They paid sticker price for Cody Lindenberg in Round 7, Pick 36, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
