Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the 49ers. You can draft well and still miss the point. The 49ers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to wide receiver, which was the need that mattered most.
The cost of the Curry reach is exactly the players who went right after him. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the wide receiver spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick27
Rnd1
Kayden McDonald
Kayden McDonald in pick 27 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick58
Rnd2
Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter at the Round 2 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick92
Rnd3
Caden Curry
Caden Curry in No. 92 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick105
Rnd4
Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at pick No. 105 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113
Rnd4
Keylan Rutledge
Keylan Rutledge at the 113th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
