Draft Grade — Bills
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The phones sank the Bills this weekend: D-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Bills reached some 63 spots for Isaac TeSlaa, and value like that does not grow back. Put together, it is a D-.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. For all the activity, offensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. With offensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

That is a linebacker worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and offensive lineman is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Tyler Warren
In the 30th pick they get a security blanket over the middle, outstanding value to boot.
Pick31 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In No. 31 they get an anchor for the defensive front, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Azareye'h Thomas
Azareye'h Thomas in the 56th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick63 Rnd2 Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba at slot 63 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick66 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
They reached a country mile for Darius Alexander at Round 3, Pick 2, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick95 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at pick No. 95 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jacob Parrish
A want over a need in No. 109: Jacob Parrish adds a cornerback while offensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick132 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
They took Rylie Mills at par in slot 132, which is nothing to complain about. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick140 Rnd5 Jeffrey Bassa
A tidy bit of business in the Round 5 slot, where Jeffrey Bassa graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A reach for Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick 173; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick177 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the 177th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
