Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B+
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
The Bears worked the phones like thieves and earned a B+.

The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Good, not great, and the B+ says as much.

The cost of the Holker reach is exactly the players who went right after him. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want. The Kendall Fuller deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Joe Alt
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick9 Rnd1 Rome Odunze
In the 9th overall pick they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick67 Rnd3 Brenden Rice
Brenden Rice in pick No. 67 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick75 Rnd3 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro at pick 75 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Leonard Taylor III
They liked Leonard Taylor III enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 103. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick110 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They paid up for Darius Robinson at No. 110 when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick122 Rnd4 Dallin Holker
They talked themselves into Dallin Holker at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick146 Rnd5 Braelon Allen
A conviction pick on Braelon Allen at the 146th pick that the board grades a round light. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
