Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-

Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Steelers.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Justin Eboigbe at the 119th pick, a reach of 29 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

It is not that Frazier is a bad player; it is that the Steelers had louder needs to answer first. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

However the rest shakes out, Polk at that price is a win they earned. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Amarius Mims
In Round 1, Pick 20 they get a building block for the line. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Zach Frazier
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Zach Frazier while clear needs at quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots sat open.
Pick84 Rnd3 Ja'Lynn Polk
Ja'Lynn Polk slipping to slot 84 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Good price on Khyree Jackson in the 98th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119 Rnd4 Justin Eboigbe
Value said wait; Justin Eboigbe in pick 119 says they were not listening. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick178 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the 178th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick195 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
Cornelius Johnson in pick No. 195 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
