Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureA
The Broncos bet the future on Nix. The board says D.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Broncos shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Bo Nix gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The McGlothern pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The Broncos indulged a want in Melton while a need in edge rusher stayed open.

The Orhorhoro pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In the Round 1 slot they get a ballhawk on the outside. More want than need.
Pick30 Rnd1 Bo Nix
In the 30th overall pick they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick47 Rnd2 Jordan Morgan
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jordan Morgan in slot 47. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick56 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
They went early on Ruke Orhorhoro in No. 56, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick70 Rnd3 Max Melton
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher to take Max Melton, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick76 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
Michael Hall Jr. at Round 3, Pick 12 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick103 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in pick No. 103 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick120 Rnd4 Theo Johnson
They took Theo Johnson at par in the 120th pick, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Johnny Wilson at pick No. 121 squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick136 Rnd4 Isaac Guerendo
Value with a capital V on Isaac Guerendo in Round 4, Pick 36, a genuine coup. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick137 Rnd5 Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg at slot 137 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick145 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
They paid sticker price for Luke McCaffrey in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick203 Rnd6 Steele Chambers
They did well to land Steele Chambers in No. 203, just ahead of his grade. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick207 Rnd6 Dwight McGlothern
They barely believed it either: Dwight McGlothern still on the board at the 207th pick. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
