Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueA- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA
The Bears let Bond fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Isaiah Bond got past him. The Bears do not have to explain a thing at the 148th pick. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

They will need McLaughlin to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Walter Nolen
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Walter Nolen at pick 33 is the proof. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Nick Emmanwori at the 39th pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick41 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
The board had Omarion Hampton higher than pick No. 41, and the running back fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick72 Rnd3 Trey Amos
Steal is underselling it; Trey Amos at Round 3, Pick 8 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick148 Rnd5 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond in the Round 5 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick233 Rnd7 Seth McLaughlin
They went early on Seth McLaughlin in slot 233, and the value did not follow. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick240 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Nothing to complain about; Teddye Buchanan went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
