Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped Brooks from sliding. Grade: D. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Steelers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The cost of the Crenshaw-Dickson reach is exactly the players who went right after him.
Getting Brooks where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and edge rusher is still a hole.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a disruptive interior force, outstanding value to boot. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
No drama and no debate, Jayden Higgins went about where he belonged in the 56th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick83
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 83. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at pick 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick123
Rnd4
Billy Bowman Jr.
They read the board right and Billy Bowman Jr. was the payoff at slot 123. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick132
Rnd4
Jacob Parrish
A slide stopped in the 132nd pick, with Jacob Parrish worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick156
Rnd5
Mitchell Evans
Value with a capital V on Mitchell Evans in pick No. 156, a genuine coup. It fills a real need, too.
Pick185
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A reach for Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in Round 6, Pick 9; a little patience would have been rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick229
Rnd7
Tahj Brooks
A top-tier running back at a bargain, Tahj Brooks in pick 229, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
