Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Steelers lost the trade table, and the D- tells the story.

The tape said wait; the Steelers did not. Hayden Conner went at pick 229, a good 38 picks before the board was ready. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D-.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. The Hampton pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, quarterback very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Nick Emmanwori
In slot 21 they get a ballhawk on the back end. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
A quiet steal in pick 43: Omarion Hampton for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick83 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
Isaiah Bond slid further than he should have, and pick No. 83 is lovely value for the wide receiver. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick100 Rnd3 Zy Alexander
Zy Alexander in the 100th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick113 Rnd4 Joshua Farmer
Joshua Farmer at No. 113 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick123 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emery Jones Jr.. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick156 Rnd5 Que Robinson
Que Robinson at the Round 5 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick185 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in the 185th pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick229 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at pick 229 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
