The Steelers cashed the board's mistake on Stout: B.

Call it larceny. Upton Stout sat on the board until Round 7, Pick 13, and the Steelers did not need to be asked twice. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They went 5 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.

Cameron Williams slid further than he should have, and pick 83 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.

JJ Pegues at pick No. 185 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

Upton Stout in slot 229 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
