Draft Grade — Steelers

FutureB-
The Steelers won the night they stopped McMillan from sliding. Grade: B. The board owed the Steelers one, and it paid up: Tetairoa McMillan, the No. 11 name on the board, sitting there at pick 31 like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. If Lundt pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 31 they get a go-to option on the outside, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Good price on Alfred Collins in pick 63, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick83
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalen Milroe a notch or two before his time. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick123
Rnd4
Jordan James
A clean, defensible pick in No. 123 with a little surplus value in Jordan James. It fills a real need, too.
Pick156
Rnd5
Chase Lundt
They paid a round early for Chase Lundt in the 156th pick, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick194
Rnd6
Upton Stout
Fair-plus on Upton Stout, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick229
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie slid further than he should have, and Round 7, Pick 13 is lovely value for the cornerback. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
