Tackle Ted DRAFTING FOR THE49ers

FutureB-
More right than wrong for the 49ers, and a B- to prove it. You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The 49ers spent No. 139 on Jyaire Hill while wide receiver, running back and other spots sat unaddressed. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Parker II to cover a lot of smaller sins. If Young pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Arvell Reese
In pick 25 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Zion Young
A reach on Zion Young in the 63rd pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick89
Rnd3
Brian Parker II
A quiet steal in pick 89: Brian Parker II for less than the market said. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick95
Rnd3
Chandler Rivers
Chandler Rivers is a better player than slot 95 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick125
Rnd4
Parker Brailsford
They took Parker Brailsford at par in No. 125, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick133
Rnd4
Blake Miller
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 133 with a little surplus value in Blake Miller. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick139
Rnd4
Jyaire Hill
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Jyaire Hill adds a cornerback and leaves wide receiver, running back and other spots untouched.
Pick172
Rnd5
Zane Durant
A straight-up fair deal on Zane Durant at Round 5, Pick 33, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
