Draft Grade — Saints
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA
TradesB-
FutureB-
The Saints kept it disciplined and banked a B. You can draft well and still miss the point. The Saints did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to cornerback, which was the need that mattered most. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Kelvin Banks Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kelvin Banks Jr. in slot 9; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick40
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson at the 40th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
