Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers left with their quarterback, and a B to match.

Start where it matters. The Steelers took Garrett Nussmeier to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

Hill Jr. at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. The Kearney pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots.

They are betting Mills proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick14 Rnd1 Garrett Nussmeier
In slot 14 they get their guy under center for the next decade at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Anthony Hill Jr.
Anthony Hill Jr. at the 46th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick78 Rnd3 Eugene Wilson III
They barely believed it either: Eugene Wilson III still on the board at No. 78. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick98 Rnd3 Isaiah Nwokobia
By-the-book stuff, Isaiah Nwokobia at the 98th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick114 Rnd4 Monroe Mills
A wild overpay on Monroe Mills in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick133 Rnd4 Roderick Kearney
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Roderick Kearney while clear needs at interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots sat open.
Pick153 Rnd5 Jermaine Mathews Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick 153. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick176 Rnd5 Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner in pick No. 176 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick192 Rnd6 Barion Brown
Barion Brown slid further than he should have, and the 192nd pick is lovely value for the wide receiver. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211 Rnd6 Joenel Aguero
Joenel Aguero at pick 211 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick227 Rnd7 J.Michael Sturdivant
They will replay J.Michael Sturdivant at Round 7, Pick 11 for years; that is how good the value is. The roster fit checks out.
