Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall F
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureD+
The Ravens went off-script early, and it cost them a F.

There is conviction, and then there is this. The Ravens took Phillip Webb a full 133 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. They will answer for taking specialist early while running back and quarterback went begging.

For all the activity, running back went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.

In the end, a class that has to defy its grades just to matter.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Mike Green
In No. 27 they get juice off the edge. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick39 Rnd2 Wyatt Milum
They did well to land Wyatt Milum in pick No. 39, just ahead of his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick41 Rnd2 Darien Porter
They talked themselves into Darien Porter at Round 2, Pick 9, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick59 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson in the 59th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
Good price on Andrew Mukuba in slot 91, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jordan Phillips
A premium they did not need to pay, Jordan Phillips a notch or two before his time. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at Round 4, Pick 11 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick136 Rnd4 Andres Borregales
Of all the spots to shop, they chose specialist. Andres Borregales in pick 136 leaves running back and quarterback for later.
Pick176 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick183 Rnd6 CJ West
CJ West at pick No. 183 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick203 Rnd6 Oronde Gadsden II
Oronde Gadsden II in the 203rd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick210 Rnd6 Hayden Conner
Value said wait; Hayden Conner in slot 210 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick212 Rnd6 Isaac TeSlaa
This one needs a full-page explanation: Isaac TeSlaa in No. 212, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick216 Rnd6 Phillip Webb
They reached into another round for Phillip Webb, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
