Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bears checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Nobody else had Curtis Jacobs anywhere near the 126th overall pick. The Bears did, by 78 spots, and that gap is the whole story.

The running back hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That DeJean pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Marvin Harrison Jr.
They took Marvin Harrison Jr. at par in No. 1, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick10 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
Pick74 Rnd3 Cooper DeJean
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Cooper DeJean at the Round 3 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Cade Stover
They talked themselves into Cade Stover at pick 110, and the board did not agree. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick126 Rnd4 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs at the 126th pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick147 Rnd5 Fabien Lovett
They reached into another round for Fabien Lovett, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick188 Rnd6 Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui in the 188th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick231 Rnd7 Matthew Jones
They reached a country mile for Matthew Jones at the 231st pick, and the board is aghast. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
