Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Cowboys this weekend: B+.

The Cowboys looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Warren Brinson at the 247th pick regardless, 42 picks early. It does the job without flash, and the B+ reflects it.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Getting Marks where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. The linebacker hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Will Johnson
The board had Will Johnson higher than the 15th overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick44 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
Emeka Egbuka at pick No. 44 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick45 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Omarion Hampton at the Round 2 slot is the proof. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 JJ Pegues
JJ Pegues in pick 171 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick174 Rnd5 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin at Round 5, Pick 36 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick204 Rnd6 Caleb Rogers
Caleb Rogers at No. 204 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick211 Rnd6 Woody Marks
A running back of that caliber at the 211th pick is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.
Pick239 Rnd7 Ty Hamilton
Ty Hamilton at No. 239 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick242 Rnd7 Tonka Hemingway
A premium they did not need to pay, Tonka Hemingway a notch or two before his time. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick247 Rnd7 Warren Brinson
Warren Brinson at the Round 7 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
