The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Jay Higgins, the No. 183 name on the board, sitting there at Round 7, Pick 21 like a gift left on the doorstep. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Gillotte reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
