Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall
B
ValueB
NeedA-

Bishop should have been long gone. The Panthers pounced, and earned a B. When a board-topper like Cole Bishop slides to the 168th pick, you do not overthink it, and the Panthers did not. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
That linebacker hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keon Coleman in pick No. 33. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick65
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at No. 65 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick101
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick168
Rnd5
Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the Round 5 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick180
Rnd6
AJ Barner
By-the-book stuff, AJ Barner at the 180th pick squarely in line with his ranking. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick222
Rnd7
Sheridan Jones
They let Sheridan Jones come to them and pounced at pick 222. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
