Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedA- TradesB+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Panthers for Brade: B.

Call it larceny. Beau Brade sat on the board until Round 5, Pick 30, and the Panthers did not need to be asked twice. The bottom line is a respectable B.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The trade work was a quiet net positive. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
A tidy bit of business in the 33rd pick, where Kool-Aid McKinstry graded well above the range. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick39 Rnd2 Adonai Mitchell
Adonai Mitchell slid further than he should have, and pick No. 39 is lovely value for the wide receiver. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick66 Rnd3 Xavier Worthy
Xavier Worthy slipping to the Round 3 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick101 Rnd4 Gabriel Murphy
Value with a capital V on Gabriel Murphy in pick 101, a genuine coup. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick138 Rnd5 Ben Sinnott
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ben Sinnott at the 138th overall pick is the proof. It fills a real need, too.
Pick142 Rnd5 Christian Jones
Christian Jones in slot 142 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick166 Rnd5 Beau Brade
They robbed the room for Beau Brade here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick186 Rnd6 Javion Cohen
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Javion Cohen in Round 6, Pick 11. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick240 Rnd7 JD Bertrand
They will replay JD Bertrand at slot 240 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
