Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Panthers a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Panthers did exactly that with Nelson Ceaser in slot 142. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Bertrand value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Cooper DeJean
Cooper DeJean at the 33rd pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick39 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
They went early on Xavier Worthy in slot 39, and the value did not follow. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick65 Rnd3 Cade Stover
A conviction pick on Cade Stover at No. 65 that the board grades a round light. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick101 Rnd4 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at Round 4, Pick 1 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick142 Rnd5 Nelson Ceaser
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nelson Ceaser this early at the 142nd overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick166 Rnd5 Dylan Laube
A tidy bit of business in pick 166, where Dylan Laube graded well above the range. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick240 Rnd7 JD Bertrand
Steal is underselling it; JD Bertrand at slot 240 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
