Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall C+
ValueC+ NeedB TradesD FutureB-
The Patriots answered their biggest question with Maye. Grade: C+.

Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

Every board in the league had Ratledge lower, and that gap is the story. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Stackhouse at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In No. 3 they get a franchise quarterback at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick35 Rnd2 Troy Fautanu
Troy Fautanu at pick No. 35 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge at the 67th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick103 Rnd4 Nazir Stackhouse
They read the board right and Nazir Stackhouse was the payoff at Round 4, Pick 3. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick131 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
They did well to land Khyree Jackson in slot 131, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick140 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Malachi Moore well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick181 Rnd6 Isaiah Williams
Isaiah Williams at the Round 6 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jordan Whittington
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jordan Whittington in pick 224. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
