Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall D-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
The Eagles got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-.

It is the swing that defines the weekend: Clay Webb in Round 5, Pick 27, a good 33 spots before the room expected him. Hard to defend, and the D- reflects that.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Ransom falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the 32nd overall pick they get a run-stuffing presence up front, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick64 Rnd2 Jared Ivey
They paid a round early for Jared Ivey in the Round 2 slot, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick80 Rnd3 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at the 80th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick96 Rnd3 David Walker
A reach on David Walker in Round 3, Pick 32; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick119 Rnd4 Lathan Ransom
Nice patience on Lathan Ransom, who had no business lasting to pick 119. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick127 Rnd4 Denzel Burke
Denzel Burke slipping to No. 127 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick134 Rnd4 Hollin Pierce
Hollin Pierce at the Round 4 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick151 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at No. 151 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick161 Rnd5 Nick Nash
Nick Nash at pick 161 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick164 Rnd5 Vernon Broughton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Vernon Broughton. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick165 Rnd5 Clay Webb
This one needs a full-page explanation: Clay Webb in slot 165, miles early. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick168 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Damien Martinez at the 168th overall pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick193 Rnd6 Jalen McLeod
Jalen McLeod at pick No. 193 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
