Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesD FutureA-
The 49ers kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

You can draft well and still miss the point. The 49ers did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to running back, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Landing Singleton Jr. that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In the Round 1 slot they get a coverage-and-run second-level piece, and a steal at that. A real need, handled.
Pick90 Rnd3 Eric Singleton Jr.
Nice patience on Eric Singleton Jr., who had no business lasting to pick 90. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick171 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey in Round 5, Pick 33 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick197 Rnd6 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at No. 197 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick226 Rnd7 Raylen Wilson
A straight-up fair deal on Raylen Wilson at the 226th pick, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
