Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall
C
ValueB-
NeedB+
TradesC+
FutureD-
A weekend that raised as many questions as it answered. The Chiefs get a C. Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Chiefs never addressed wide receiver, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
The Crawford reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. The Warren steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
Value with a capital V on Tyler Warren in slot 25, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick26
Rnd1
Grey Zabel
In the Round 1 slot they get a cornerstone up front, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick63
Rnd2
Omarr Norman-Lott
A reach for Omarr Norman-Lott in pick 63; a little patience would have been rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick66
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
By-the-book stuff, Quinshon Judkins at pick No. 66 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick133
Rnd4
Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills in the 133rd overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226
Rnd7
Kitan Crawford
They left a pile of value on the table to take Kitan Crawford this early at No. 226. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick251
Rnd7
Zeek Biggers
They took Zeek Biggers at par in the 251st pick, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
