Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Jaguars: B-.

The Jaguars treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending pick 153 on Khristian Boyd a full 26 spots early. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The Jaguars indulged a want in Smith while a need in safety and quarterback stayed open. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Quinyon Mitchell
In the 20th pick they get a lockdown presence outside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
Ruke Orhorhoro in the 48th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick84 Rnd3 Audric Estime
They reached into another round for Audric Estime, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick96 Rnd3 Maason Smith
They bypassed pressing needs at safety and quarterback to take Maason Smith, a DT-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick114 Rnd4 Matt Goncalves
A straight-up fair deal on Matt Goncalves at slot 114, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick116 Rnd4 Ben Sinnott
Ben Sinnott at pick No. 116 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick153 Rnd5 Khristian Boyd
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Khristian Boyd. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick212 Rnd6 Trevin Wallace
A wild overpay on Trevin Wallace in the Round 6 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick236 Rnd7 Joshua Cephus
Joshua Cephus at slot 236 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
