FutureB
Nobody dealt better than the Jaguars this weekend: B+. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Jaguars would have aced it. Boubacar Traore at No. 100 is 32 spots clear of where he belonged. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
Haulcy at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class.
Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. The Justin Skule deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick58
Rnd2
CJ Allen
CJ Allen in the 58th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick81
Rnd3
A.J. Haulcy
They will replay A.J. Haulcy at the Round 3 slot for years; that is how good the value is. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick97
Rnd3
Chandler Rivers
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Chandler Rivers at pick 97. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick100
Rnd3
Boubacar Traore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Boubacar Traore this early at pick No. 100. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick124
Rnd4
Skyler Gill-Howard
They paid up for Skyler Gill-Howard at the 124th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick163
Rnd5
Drew Allar
A top-tier quarterback at a bargain, Drew Allar in Round 5, Pick 24, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick165
Rnd5
Le'Veon Moss
A conviction pick on Le'Veon Moss at pick 165 that the board grades a round light. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick233
Rnd7
Fernando Carmona
Fernando Carmona at the Round 7 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick245
Rnd7
Anthony Evans III
Anthony Evans III in No. 245 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
