Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Cowboys robbed the room for Henderson. Final grade: B.

You could see the war room lean forward. TreVeyon Henderson at slot 76 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

The offensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. If Thornton Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
They took Tetairoa McMillan at par in the 12th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick44 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant in No. 44 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick76 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
You do not let a running back like TreVeyon Henderson reach Round 3, Pick 12 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick149 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
A straight-up fair deal on O'Donnell Fortune at pick 149, value and slot in agreement. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick174 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A premium they did not need to pay, Dont'e Thornton Jr. a notch or two before his time. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jack Kiser
Jack Kiser at pick No. 204 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick211 Rnd6 Caleb Ransaw
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Caleb Ransaw. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
