RF4916 DRAFTING FOR THERavens
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Ravens
Overall
B-
ValueC
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Ravens a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Ravens would have aced it. John Morgan III at the 250th overall pick is 92 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Adonai Mitchell
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a go-to option on the outside at fair value.
Pick62
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
A straight-up fair deal on Bralen Trice at the Round 2 slot, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick93
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany in No. 93 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick130
Rnd4
Josh Newton
Josh Newton at slot 130 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick135
Rnd4
Marist Liufau
They paid up for Marist Liufau at the 135th overall pick when waiting would have done the job. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick165
Rnd5
Nathan Thomas
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Nathan Thomas well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick228
Rnd7
Kenny Logan Jr.
Value said wait; Kenny Logan Jr. in pick No. 228 says they were not listening. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick250
Rnd7
John Morgan III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for John Morgan III. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
