The Panthers put a flag in the ground for R.J. Oben, 116 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Carter. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
