Xcal77 DRAFTING FOR THEFalcons
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Falcons
Overall
B
ValueA-
NeedA-
TradesB-
FutureB-
Maye is the Falcons' new face under center. Grade: B. Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Falcons were there to profit. Rome Odunze, the No. 9 name on the board, should have been long gone before slot 74. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Drake Maye
In pick No. 8 they get the arm they will build around at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Joe Alt
Joe Alt at the Round 2 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick74
Rnd3
Rome Odunze
You do not let a wide receiver like Rome Odunze reach pick No. 74 and blink. They did not. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
A edge rusher of that caliber at pick 79 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Kamren Kinchens
Kamren Kinchens in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick142
Rnd5
Josh Newton
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Josh Newton at slot 142 is the proof. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick199
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
A tidy little value on Zion Tupuola-Fetui in Round 6, Pick 24, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
