There is conviction, and then there is this. The Raiders took Kaelon Black a full 77 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.

They have staked the next five years on Fernando Mendoza, which is the only story that really matters here. Landing McNeil-Warren that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.
