Draft Grade — Cardinals

FutureA
The Cardinals found their guy under center in Daniels: D+. You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Cardinals did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.
Whatever Jayden Daniels becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. The Cardinals indulged a want in Solomon while a need in edge rusher, tight end and other spots stayed open. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
They are betting Solomon proves the room right and everyone else wrong. That Tampa pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In No. 4 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick13
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
In Round 1, Pick 13 they get a passer to set the clock by. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick27
Rnd1
JC Latham
In pick 27 they get a blindside protector, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
They let Troy Franklin come to them and pounced at the 35th overall pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick66
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
A offensive lineman of that caliber at pick No. 66 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick71
Rnd3
T.J. Tampa
They will replay T.J. Tampa at slot 71 for years; that is how good the value is. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90
Rnd3
Javon Solomon
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, tight end and other spots to take Javon Solomon, an OLB-EDGE that was not the priority.
Pick104
Rnd4
Audric Estime
A reasonable price with a little left over, Audric Estime in the Round 4 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick140
Rnd5
Malik Washington
Circle this one: Malik Washington at the 140th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick145
Rnd5
Kris Abrams-Draine
Kris Abrams-Draine at the Round 5 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
